Unhappy 93 won't start after radiator hose blew

93 4 cylinder, 2.3 litre manual

Driving home from a friends house my upper radiator hose blew. The truck ran for another mile, but then overheated and the engine cut off. Got it towed home. The radiator hose took a chunk out of the radiator. Got both replaced. Then it had no power, so I had to replace the battery. Now when turning the key it will turn over and over, but won't catch and start.
I've checked the shut off switch, it's not triggered.
everyone wants to tell me it's not getting spark or gas, so I'm going to change the spark plugs first thing tomorrow (long overdue anyway).

Anyone got any bright ideas I should try while I'm under the hood tomorrow?

Thanks!

You blew the hose and kept driving until the engine died. And are surprised it doesn't work? If you melted down the heads, you won't get any compression and therefore won't fire.

You can pull a plug out, ground it, crank the engine, and look to see if it has spark.

changing the plugs would be a good maintenance item but I would wait until you see if you get it running.....As Fireranger said .if you trashed your heads or blew a headgasket changing the plugs right now might be a waste...

you need to determine if you have fuel pressure and spark coming form the colipacks.......especially the passenger side plugs

I ALSO WOULD TAKE A LOOK AND MAKE SURE YOUR TIMING BELT DID NOT BREAK..CHANCES THAT THE BELT BROKE AND CAUSED THIS DEBACLE AND YOU NOT NOTICING THE TIMING BELT COVERED BLOWN APART ARE SLIM, BUT I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE WORTH CHECKING

@Fireranger - I didn't realize what had happened til too late. I was driving at night, and even though I had my eyes on the road, I heard a *thunk* like I had hit something small, but didn't feel that I had run over anything. The truck drove fine for a minute, and then slowly stopped working properly. It wasn't until I pulled over and looked under the hood that I realized that the *thunk* was the radiator hose knocking against the underside of the hood as it had dislodged itself.

I reread the thread......it's not the timing belt since you kept driving......but I will repeat myself......I would hold off the plugs until you figure out the damage......proceed in a logical manner......fuel, spark, timing, compression......and CHECK FOR CODES

The engine is gone. It melted down. You don't have compression anymore. Do a compression test to make sure. But I'm positive that's it.
