Hey guys, I have an 88 2.3 5 speed that is bone stock. Last nigt I put 4 gallons of gas in it and according to the trip meter I have put less than 2 miles on it which sounds about right. In those two miles, it has managed to burn through all 4 gallons of fuel. I don't have much money, so I can't afford to throw parts at it. There are no visible leaks under the truck and the cap and rotor and all tune up items look pretty new. There is also a smell of raw gas coming from the engine bay and it looks a little damp in there. Sorry for the novel but I'm trying to be as descriptive as possible. Thanks in advance.

What your saying is basically impossible unless there is a huge hole in the tank, or in one of the lines feeding the engine.

My best bet is that the sensor to read your fuel level is going nuts or it may just be something electrical. i have a 94 ranger and the needle is always back and forth ... which reminds i gotta get check that out lol

The gauge doesn't work, I know it burnt through that much because I ran out on the way to my buddies house.

I would have to say you got had and someone syphined your fuel out cause there is no other possible way this could happen unless you had a whole in the tank or a supply line.

oh yeah you might not have ran out of fuel your fuel pump may have died.

Okay guys, I finally got the truck legal and on my way to get an inspection sticker the truck started missing very badly so I pulled off the road to check it out. I opened the hood and the entire drivers side of the engine bay is covered with fuel. I cant really tell where it's leaking from but it's absolutely pouring the fuel. Any ideas whats goin on? Is there any typical problems with these trucks esp. with fuel lines or some sort of gasket? Thanks for any help. The truck is an 88 with a 2.3
