Default timing belt tensioner pulley 96 2.3

I'm installing my timing belt. I have all the sprockets lined up correctly and the belt around the 3 sprockets. A video tutorial I watched said to loosen the lower nut on the tensioner to move it left and slip the belt over it, but when I did this, the spring tension forced the tensioner all the way to the right. I can't move it at all! Before I might could've pryed the belt over it, but now, no way. My question is, how do I get the belt around the tensioner pulley? How do I move the pulley over? I am ready to be done with this job so I can quit borrowing my parents vehicles, plus its really cold right now and I don't have a lot of time off. Thanks.

They make a special tool for that, but its hard to borrow one, you can just barely loosen the holding bolt, (the one that you did) and use a heavy kinda long screwdriver or pry bar to move the tensioner back. It helps if you have somebody ready with a ratchet and socket on the bolt to tighten it when you get it pried back. BUT, one word of causion when doing it like I stated, be sure not to bend the tensioner roller, try to stay in the middle of it.

Thanks man. I figured it out. Got mad, determined to fix it, forced it over by myself with a long screwdriver. Coulda used a helper, but solo is always cheaper and no fighting over who's the boss! Got it all back together last night and it runs like a top. The guy who made that vid on youtube I watched was a retard. I could've been done a day earlier had I not listened to him("just loosen the nut and slide it over"). People on this forum are much more in the know.

OK, I see your name is Shelly and your screen name is Tomboy, so I'm assuming that you are in fact a woman and not a man. So thanks, sorry for calling you man. :
