this prob has been going on for about 2 mos. or so. i even swapped out the starter solenoid on firewall(not new..just off another ranger). i changed the starter because if i hit it w/ a hammer it would start every time...so figured ok, its the starter!...wrong! ah! this morning had a buddy wiggle the solenoid wire that goes to the starter and it started!!? the connections are clean and tight...i checked when i installed the starter yesterday. the neg. cable looks a little beat up but the solenoid wire seems ok and thats the one he wiggled on? so maybe its the neg cable ground at block, solenoid wire or the starter solenoid itself!?

btw- also has new batt terminals as well.

anybody ever had this prob.? any help would be greatly appreciated. thx!

it deffinately sounds like a connection somewhere. locate exactly where you have to wiggle to get the truck to start, and then work from there. thats the part that sucks about wiring is when ur presented with a situation like this, it is all trial and error. and if you are sure all your connections and wiring are right, then start looking towards replacing things like solenoids.
