94 2.3L No Heat and Temp Gauge doesnt move from C
I have a 1994 2.3L and I don't get any heat. I just replaced the thermostat and flush the system and put new coolant in it and still nothing. When I flushed the system I flushed the heater core and it seemed to flow freely. I ran the truck for 45 minutes and the hoses going into the heater core were still cold and the upper radiator hose was barely warm.... Any suggestions?

See my NO HEAT TROUBLESHOOTING FLOW CHART thread. Run it down and report where it leads.

Re: 94 2.3L No Heat and Temp Gauge doesnt move from C
If I had a bad T stat wouldn't my temp gauge be above C? Could I have a bad water pump? I havnet had any problems with overheating while I drove it all week. Thanks for the help guys!

if the t-stat is stuck open then it would allow the coolant to warm up to normal operating temp

Re: 94 2.3L No Heat and Temp Gauge doesnt move from C
Then if it was stuck shut my temp gauge should climb to hot and if its stuck open then it should still get to normal temp correct?

This there a fuse for the temp gauge? and does anyone have a drawing of the fuse panel cause i dont have a owners manual for the truck. one other problem of a different topic is i dont have and dash lights i.e. speedo gas gauge and oil pressure, most likely a fuse or a bulb or something?

If the stat is stuck open, it will NOT warm up and the gauge will NOT move above C. No it doesn't have its own fuse.
Run through the troubleshooting guide.

make sure engine is cool and no pressure on the radiator. Then remove one of your heater hoses and using a funnel pour coolant in the hose until coolant starts coming out of the heater core, then replace heater hose . You will have heat when the engine warms up.

This makes no sense and that will not do anything. Don't waste your time.

Re: 94 2.3L No Heat and Temp Gauge doesnt move from C
I took and tried something for sh#ts and giggles, I unbolted the fan shroud and covered the radiator with a piece of cardboard and my temp gauge started to rise. After ten minutes or so it got into the normal range so I check my hoses and both heater hoses were hot along with my uppper radiator hose. I turned the heat on in the truck and its nice and hot. So Im assuming that the thermostat is stuck open. Also my windows started to fog with the heat off.... I'm assuming i have a small hole in the heater core, I couldnt really tell if I could smell coolant since I was already covered in it from the flush and putting new coolant in.

Not necessarily, especially since you covered the AC condenser with cardboard too. But I guess you're going to keep dicking around drawing at straws rather trying to actually troubleshoot this matter the right way. Good luck. I tried.

Thats all that youre trouble shooting guide is telling me......
----------
Step 1 my coolant level is full check
Step 2 Temp is still low with HVAC off check
Step 3 Its either a rotted out water pump or a stuck thermostat..........
