Dual Plugs: Why Does My 2.3 Not Have Them???
I was reading the thread about the dual ignition plug mod and i was asking about it in the hopes to attempt to do the mod, but lo and behold i go outside to check and see where everything is located, but i can only see one set of plugs... I was wondering why my 2.3 does not have these second set of plugs because i really was looking forward to this mod! Bummer.I know that i have the 2.3 duratec, does that mean that they didnt come with the dual plug setup? thanks!

Re: Dual Plugs: Why Does My 2.3 Not Have Them???
Im not 100% sure, I suppose I could google it, but im to lazy. 2.3 ran up to 97. Then the 2.5 to 00. Then I think, the 2.3 DOHC from 01+ There should be a rectangular valve (or I guess, "cam") cover on each side of the head.

Re: Dual Plugs: Why Does My 2.3 Not Have Them???
But you have a timing chain and not a belt + more power + more MPG. You are better off.
I have a 97 SOHC. I'll have to change the belt etc..

Both are excellent engines. All are. Just yours has less maintenance needed.

Nowadays the timing belts are manufactured good enough to last over a 100,000 miles.

Re: Dual Plugs: Why Does My 2.3 Not Have Them???
I agree. I changed my TB at 60k, looked new. Very little wear. Also, they used 2.5 motors halfway thru 2001.
