Re: towing capacity
ive hauled 4000 lbs on a double axle trailor with no problem. just be careful with the brakes because its easy to jacknife a ranger with all that weight in the back

You have hauled 4000 lbs with a 4 banger Ranger? I'm glad you live no where near me.

lol oh yeah. i haul scrap metal and my ranger is my work horse. never backed down from anything yet and it has 300,000 miles on it. however with the 3.45 gears i could only go about 55 mph in 4th gear down the interstate. 5th gear it would just steady loose speed.

Re: towing capacity
i regularly do 1200-2000 lbs of scrap metal on a trailer, no idea what the trailer weighs, sometimes some of it ends up in the bed tho

Re: towing capacity
I'd say your safe at 1500. I think the bumper is rated for only 500 or 1000.

Re: towing capacity
I've got a 2006 S/C 4cyl, 5sp with 4:10. Tomorrow I'm going to pick up my new to me boat. I've read the owners manual that states max towing capacity is 1768 pounds. The boat with motors and trailer included weighs 1940 pounds. I think I should be fine but is there anything within reason I can do to bump up the trucks towing capacity just a bit?

Add a leafs, sand bags in the bed for slippery ramps, truck brake overhaul/ upgrades. Power isn't the problem, its stopping the load with such a light duty truck.
