Default 1988 Ranger 2.3 Hesitation issues

Hello all, I am new here and I am having a problem with my new (to me) truck. It is an 88 2.3 5 speed 2wd. When I start it up, it wants to idle around 1200 rpm for a few minutes cold or warm and when I go to rev it to pull out, it has a slight hesitation if it is around 1000 rpm and a major hesitation at 900 rpm or lower. There are no check engine lights on and there is a fairly noticable raw gas smell coming from the exhaust. Also there is the gas pedal that is extremely stiff, any solution there? Any and all help is appreciated, as I'm a Chevy guy driving a Ford lol but I don't completely hate it.

Default MAP sensor

I had the same issue and it turned out to be the MAP sensor. I changed the TPS with no resolution. After changing the MAP sensor it idled perfectly and had it's power back.
