Most likely a clogged heater core, especially if the heater stopped working slowly, a little at a time.

Does your temperature gauge operate normally?

It could be a heater core, but it could be the thermostat. I haven't checked the link posted by dj, but it's probably a good place to start. Some simple things to check under the hood, checking hoses to see if the run warm, hot or cold. Keep your safety in mind if the engine is running or warmed up. Changing the thermostat in older Rangers is easier than more modern vehicles. Replacing mine meant located one blind bolt and the other one, heavily obscured by the AC tubing lines.

Good luck on the trouble shoot.

Well changed the thermostat. The truck still will not heat up, water pump was change not to long ago. Could the gauge be wrong? Also the prvious owner put stop leak in the radiator so somthing might be stuck in there

I've seen some stop leak clog a heater core before. Let your truck "warm up" and check both hoses on the heater core to see if only one is getting hot. Of course do this with your heat on full blast.

Is your heater control valve stuck?

What engine is this again?

Should be the 4 port valve about 2 feet down the heater core lines. Plastic piece with a plastic vacuum line connected. Should see a vacuum actuator on it that pulls a rod that opens and closes the valves. You should be able to manually push the rod in and out.

Check for hot lines that lead up to this.
