98 Ranger NEED HELP!!!
Ok so this would be my first time ever posting on a forum. Always find the answer I need until now. I have a 98 Ranger single cab 2.5L 4 banger M/T. My issue is this, When I go to start the piece it just cranks for about 10-15 seconds then it starts. Runs like straight garbage (hot or cold) for about 5 minutes then idles like it should. This all started about 3 weeks ago when I took the dirt road home. I got back to pavement and the truck was running like trash. 1st gear accelerates then shift to 2nd and started loosing power. stepped on gas and the speedo went the wrong way. got it home. sat over night and drove fine the next day and until yesterday when I took it out again in the desert. Same thing happened. It is as if when i step on the gas the truck isn't getting fuel. I let it sit overnight and now it runs rough at start and then after while it runs normal. When I start it, if i throw it in gear and rev high and drop the clutch sometimes it will go and won't have a problem.
Things I have done-
Plugs
Wires
Fuel Filter
Check all the vacuum lines (think i found them all)
checked MAF
Checked DFPE
air filter
checked all the hoses for air leaks
I have ordered IAC and Coil packs (be here wednesday). But at this point I am at a loss, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 98 Ranger NEED HELP!!!
Runs good once I get going though for the most part. maybe bouncing in the dirt causes fuel pump to fail?

Re: 98 Ranger NEED HELP!!!
Milage hasn't changed at all at least what I think is normal. This is tank number 2 since I bought it. I have done 2 Lucas treatments (injector cleaner). I am getting about 15 MPG thats with 31s though. Truck was sitting since 04' when I bought it.

Re: 98 Ranger NEED HELP!!!
Ok fellas, so i finally found out what the problem was. I pulled the fuel pump out and found that the fuel line (small rubber fuel hose) located on the fuel pump was cracked and falling apart. This causing the same problem as if you were drinking out of a broken straw. I replaced the fuel hose and it fired right up with no issues. Hope this thread helps anyone that needed it.
