Default 92 XLT miss fire

I just purchased a 1992 Ranger XLT, 2WD, 5 Speed, 4 Cylinder. It's my first 4 cylinder ever and im not sure if it should be such a turd on power but i hear they are only 100hp. Anyway my problem is that in first and second gear usually within the fisrt few miles or sometimes all day i recieve several rapid miss fires, up to five in a clip. They stop after a few seconds and the vehicle then will perform normally. No check engine light or any other light is on. any idea???

they dont have much power. i did the airbox mod on mine which helped some http://www.fordrangerforum.com/how-s...ir-intake.html 1) did you or can you see if it thru any codes 2) Do you know maintenance history, ie, airfilter, pcv, plugs, wires, clean the maf if you have one you might have something else instead 3) run some injector cleaner thru the tank

Check spark plug wires if no codes. Mine misses and I have 135,000 on original wires. Soon to be changed.
