91'-89' franken-danger ranger issues
Hello all- this is my first post on your very nice forum. I have been reading posts on it to help me along in this project and it has been very helpful. My danger ranger is a 91 with a 2.3 Liter 4 cylinder, and the motor happened to go kaput last fall.
I replaced it with a donated 89' motor, and covered my bases with a new oil pan gasket, new oil pump and new rear main seal. In replacing the motor, we changed out the wiring harness as rats had their way with it long ago.
Danger ranger ran well enough but was getting horrid mileage- say 10-12 mpg. The CEL was constantly on. The codes said the O2 sensor and EGR were at fault as well as the speed sensor imput. I put a new o2 sensor on and the EGR from the blown 91 motor in. The EGR that came on the 89' motor was caked in gunk.
Now danger ranger runs better, its not stalling out at stops like it did occaisionally, but the CEL is still on and I am wondering if it is because of the speed sensor imput. I have yet to drive it enough to see if there has been an improvement in mileage.
Thank you all for reading my long winded story and for all your help and nice forum- Cheers, Tetcht Seckum
