Default 50 thousand mile service time.

OK, i just hit the 50 thousand mile mark in the truck's life. i have a new fuel filter and planning on the oil and filter change. what else should i look at doing since the truck will be on the lift so i can look under it and get to everything easily? the truck's details are listed below..

Grease all the steering joints, check your bumpstops and shocks, u joints (not that they should be worn out now by any means), I always check the electrical and brake lines and make sure they aren't rubbing though or anything. maybe repack your front bearings.

I didn't even think of that and I just did both of those done on mine, in a manual transmission I don't worry as much about changing the fluid, it doesn't do as many things as ATF fluid does in an auto, but to each their own.

I do plugs every 20000 or so, it made a big difference in this truck when I changed them. I got my truck in August 08 with 30200 miles now I have 57600 and just now changed them out. I did plug wires to. If you're doing plugs you might as well. Check your serpentine belt. It's probably good to but I always check it. IDK if the new trucks have cab filters but that would be a good one to do to.

Lol yeah time to pull those out. The big difference in plug life for me is how you drive, city I change them more, freeway you don't need to as much.

i would think it need more with a auto tranny as to a stick ( stick has 100 moving parts auto has 1000 moving parts) do to the nature of the beast!

It does need more with the auto. That's what I'm saying. They call for it every 30,000 for my truck, idk if that is different with the manual or the year.

Yeah it doesn't suprise me. But on a manual the most your fluid is dealing with is friction between gears, in an auto the fluid is cleaning, controlling shifting, and lubricating. ATF is the most advanced fluid in your vehicle. I don't change the fluid in my other truck, which is a manual, mind you its a GMC too, anywhere near as much as my Ranger with the auto. I don't see the point, but for sure it gets changed if I do a clutch or anytime I have to drop tranny.
