It can also depend on where you are driving don't forget. I drive a lot of freeway here in Montana, but short trips like in town I never see 300 miles to a tank.

I put iridium plugs in about 2 yrs & 40,000 miles ago and my truck still idles smooth & start with the 1st turn 98% of the time. If you guys are seeing 300 & more then I'm going to have to re-evaluate what I'm doing wrong. O'yes I have an automatic trans.
I'm capable of 320-350 miles per tank. All city, totally stock.

I think my record is 360. I'll have to check my log....

I'm speechless. I even put in 0-20 weight oil to get better mileage and still did the same.

The thing is, you have to drive like an angel 100% of the time.
I don't always get that kind of mileage - simply because I don't always want to drive the way I need to to get that kind of mileage. But anytime I fill up and am determined to get 18-21 mpg, I get it. I still go 5-10 mph over the speed limit, but the key for me is taking off slow, letting the trans shift at no more than 2500 rpm, and timing the lights/traffic.

Maybe the fact that my truck only has 34,000 miles on it has something to do with it, too.
