I break 200 every time I fill... you should too Joe, unless you don't let the light come on then I could see how you're not getting 200 miles

What kind of driving are you doing to get 10 or 12, might be time for a tune up. I get 16 city most of the time, 10 or 12 when I have to warm up the truck at 20 below zero. Pulled 23 today running back from great falls.

Damm, the only way I can get 600 on a tank is to steal 1 tank of gas. That's simply incredible.I can't get 300 a tank.I may come close to 300 if I drive perfect for a week, maybe. I have a 2004 4.0 4x4.

its all based on how you drive the truck... if you drive it lightly, easy on the throttle then yes you can see high MPG's, but if you drive it like a sports car then the MPG's will decrease majorly... like my truck if i drive it nicely i will see 29-32 MPG, but if i drive the hell out i will see 24-26 MPG

+1. We have different engines, but the same rules apply.
The Ranger is the only vehicle I've had where the mileage can fluctuate so wildly. I can consistently pull 20 mpg, but if I push it, I can get as low as 12.
My other cars would stay within 2-4 mpg, regardless of how I drove.

I admit I don't drive like an angel but I'm no speed demon.I would say I drive nice & easy 75% of the time I'm out, maybe 85%. I reset my tripometer at full fill-up and I can't remember ever seeing 300 before the next fill-up, nore like 270. I put iridium plugs in about 2 yrs & 40,000 miles ago and my truck still idles smooth & start with the 1st turn 98% of the time. If you guys are seeing 300 & more then I'm going to have to re-evaluate what I'm doing wrong. O'yes I have an automatic trans.
