It all started four days ago when I checked my oil to find my Ranger had lost 2 quarts of oil in a couple weeks, so I topped it off and planned on doing an oil change this weekend. Monday my truck broke down on the interstate. The engine just seemed to loose all power and started slowing down until I pulled over. I had to leave it there to go to my morning classes and when I got back we managed get it started somehow and get it on a trailer. The check engine light then came on so we took it and got it read, 5 times to be exact lol. All the reading came back referring to the O2 sensor, which would mean its just detecting lean gas, right? That seems to be all the mechanics I talked too opinions. While it was running on the trailer when we was checking out the motor it began shaking violently, like it was about to die but it continued until we turned it off. This is when I discovered oil coming out of the exhaust. We believe we have narrowed it down to a few things.
1. Bad O2 sensor
2. Fuel Pump
3. PCV Valve
Were leaning to the PCV right now and I'm going to pick up a new one in the morning. I just want anyones opinions on what else this could be if this doesnt fix it. I really need my truck back.
I have been able to drive it for small amounts of time the last few days and it hasn't acted up anymore but I'm afraid to test it's limits on how long it will keep going smooth. I have noticed a dramatic decrease in power as well.
Thanks for reading, any help would be much appreciated
