93 2.3L Smelling gas in the cab.
I just bought this 93 Ranger its the first ford I have ever Owned. It seems to be running great besides needing a power steering pump but i keep smelling gas in the cab or it might be tail pipe fumes. It does have a state through cherry bomb type exhaust pipe on it. Any suggestions ?

Check for wet area where filler neck enters fuel tank, that grommet is a common failure point and gives gas smell into cab, etc. easy & cheap fix

X2. Plus you might want to check your exhaust, fuel lines, as well as the gas tank to be sure. You're dealing with a 20 year old truck and alot of things that was mentioned begin to either fail or are starting to fail due to years of use and abuse.

quit farting in the truck?....
but in all seriousness. check to top of the tank around the fuel pump... could be rusty. Also check your fuel lines...

Re: 93 2.3L Smelling gas in the cab.
I had the same problem. I also couldn't fill the tank with out puttin gas on the ground. I had to put a new filler neck on it. I bought a new one cuz I didn't want to mess with a used one.

Re: 93 2.3L Smelling gas in the cab.
I bought my truck about 1 year ago. I had smelled gas since I purchased it. The front & rear shackles were completely rusted, so I needed to drop the tank to get to the inside of the frame to bolt the new front shackles on. While the tank was out I found the problem. The previous owner replaced the fuel pump and put the rubber ring gasket on the top of the sending unit instead of the bottom. The order they go in from top to bottom is ring that holds the sending unit on in the tank, sending unit, rubber gasket, tank. Hope this helps.
