ac isn't working

i just got new hoses and a new compressor and can't understand why it is not getting cold. i hear the air after i shut the car off but somebody told me thats normal....anyway when i put the gauge into my canister it shows it is full of freon....does that mean it doesn't have a leak? i bought the compressor second hand...its gotta be that or a leak....

might have a corroded connector somewhere/bad switch

you don't think its a leak? what switch? the fan and compressor turn on...

If the freon is low it will not work properly. Certain things I don't buy used. Good luck.

Did you vacumn the system down before you put the freon in?

i put a screwdriver in the canister until no more air came out then i put the freon in

wow epic fail!...you need to go to an ac shop from now on...it needs to be hooked up to an ac machine to vaccum the system down and then recharge it

Perhaps it's time to bring it to an AC shop if that's how you serviced it before? What do you mean "you hear the air after you shut the truck off"??

they are going to charge me a arm and a leg...is there any other way?? anything i can get at autozone...

No there is nothing you can buy at Autozone. I asked what you mean by "you hear air after you shut the truck off".

Probably just back pressure from the system charging while the truck is running bleeding off after it's shut off. Should only last a couple of seconds.
