What does DTC 334 "ACTUALLY" mean???
Failed CA. smog with both COs and NOX being off the charts,almost 2 times max allowed. Ford OBD1 code reader came up with Diagnostic Trouble Code #334;"EGR closed valve voltage high". I'd hate to replace the EGR just to find out that something else was sending high voltage to EGR ,causing the valve to close. Any help would be great.

Try cleaning it first, sounds like it may be stuck

Already pulled EGR off and cleaned what i could. I don't believe I can just squirt something into there,so how can I lube that shaft/piston,or whatever it is in there?

Wondering if you ever were able to fix the problem. My 92 just failed smog with the exact same problem. If you gained any helpful expertise, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

After pull'n EGR off n clean'n out the port,it fail'n AGAIN! Nox where nearly double what's allowed. Seem'd all that was left was the CAT.! Had another off my previous Ranger(stock),failed AGAIN!! Drop'd $250 on a new universal CAT.! New CAT. cut 3/4 of the NOX,came out measuring 1/2max allowed!! If u test'd EGR n it's work'n,only other componant on EGR line is the CAT.. I guess it changes one gas to another!! Get;n way bet'r mileage no also!! GOOD LUCK Pad!!!!
