Default fuel pump?

hi, im new to the site. i have a 94 2.3ltr. ive had it for about 4yrs. when going highway speeds its always acted like it was running out of gas and died. last week, it wouldnt start. it was like 100 degrees out. i let it cool off and a friend suggested i try kicking he gas tank...it worked. same thing happened today. again i kicked the tank. again it worked. that would be fuel pump right? im not horrible with a wrench but am no expert. thanx in advance

Not sure why you put this in the "Site Related Questions, Comments and Suggestions" section. But not the less, yes this sounds like a failing fuel pump. You can drop the tank or remove the bed. Neither are fun.

Yep. Think about it this way... If you were a bolt screwed tightly into place outside exposed to weather for 17 years, would come loose easily
