Default Changing plugs and cables

Ok so I'm going to undertake the daunting task of changing the plugs and cables on my 97 2.3. I plan on removing the intake manifold to get to the ones on the driver side, and while I have it all torn apart I'm going to clean the throttle body. My question is what gaskets will I need to be replacing. I want to replace them all but I'm a bit new to working on motors and I'm not sure how many there are. Thanks! Oh and any advice on the plugs and cables would be appreciated to!

If your only pulling the intake, then just the intake gaskets but that usually is not necessary to pull plugs. As for changing the plugs and wires, I usually spray inside the spark plug hole with WD-40 so they don't break off in the head also keep your ratchet as close to the plug as possible (ex: no unnecessary ratchet extensions) for the most torque

I just did plugs and wires on a 96 2.3L. You're going to need an EGR valve gasket, the gasket for the throttle body, and one for the manifold itself. I went ahead and bought an upper intake manifold gasket kit and then found out the EGR valve gasket wasn't included. The kit and the EGR gasket came to about $13.

also if you are going to remove the intake make sure you replace the small coolant hose that goes to it......and only use motorcraft or autolites plugs and wires

Thanks for the info guys. I had previously bought a Bosch wireset because that's all they had, but I'm going to take it back and get either autolite or motocraft.
