Please Help Starter Problems
I have a 93 Ranger with the 2.3L. I have been through to starters, when i first install the new starter it starts right up and I can drive it around but then after I shut the engine off and try to start it again all i get is the clicking from the solenoid on the fender by the battery. I have tried jumping the solenoid but get the same result. Something seems to be burning through starters. Any help would be great thanks.

Curious was it a new starter or one from a salvage yard?

I would take it back and have them test it. I mean if you got all the connections on the starter right and it fired up then now it wont seems it would be the starter it's self.
You can test it your self also if you have a battery charger. just connect the ground and positive on the right spots. and see if the gear engages.

Do you have your heat shield installed? Sounds like the starter is getting hot, and electronics don't like heat.
Also, have your battery and charging system checked out. The battery may be getting weak, and isn't able to deliver that extra punch to start it when hot.

I have tested the starters myslef before taking them back and they are all dead. Could something be overloading the starters or something.
