Default 94 2.3 cold air intake (again)

OK before you all bash me for asking such a redundant question keep in mind I was a good forum user and searched this topic before posting this.

I have determined through my searches that I will have to create a CAI for my 2.3. That's not a big deal. My question is what are the items in the bottom of the stock air box.

By that I mean the vacuum looking valve (mushroom shaped) and the hose that feeds back into the header/ exhaust manifold?

Can I delete these items? Would a CAI designed for a 5.0 stang from same year be "fittable"? <--that's probably not a word but you get the idea. I ask that regarding the 5.0 due to the MAF being able to bolt up directly to the CAI.

I tried once before to custom build a CAI for my old 1st gen eclipse but it didn't get along w/ the MAF to I put the stock box back on. I prob didn't do something right....oh well.

Sorry for the long post. If anyone has built a CAI for the 2.3 ranger please post a pic so I can see what is possible.
