My '87 2.3L has been stored for 4 yrs. I had run it at several month intervals to keep the batt up and engine oiled. In the last 6 mo. my wifes surgery has kept me too busy... Now the Ranger is no start. The engine fires on starter fluid so I suspect a fuel problem. Here's where I am: Fuel pressure is 38-40 psi. Engine spark timing is 10deg BTC cranking (default is 10 BTC, I think). Engine will run with fuel dribbled into the airhorn - I've actually run it for 15 min this way. Injector elect. test points show all coils getting pulsed: Per my Fluke 73 DMM the coil Voltage drops from 12V to .9V for greater that 1 millisecond, then flys back to 32V. (implies coils not shorted or open). Am I missing something? Is it time to pull the injectors?
