Default 1993 Ford Ranger (No electrical Power)

I have a 93 Ranger and it has electrical no power. The engine will start when I use a screwdriver to cross over on the selnoid, but it doesn't idle it dies right after starting it.
I checked all the grounds on the on the truck and put a new ignition switch in. I also had the ICM checked and it was good.
If anyone can help I would appreciate it.
Thanks
Darvin

...did you check all the fuses (and relays) in the main distribution block (under the hood) to make sure they were present and working??

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I checked all the fuses in the Main Distribution Box. They are all present and in working order (I just looked at them, is there a special way to check them?) I checked the fuse box under the dash board too and they are all there and in (as far as I can tell) are in working order.
The truck starts when I cross the selnoid and the power comes back on too. I just can't hold it there because the started grinds, but if I let off the engine dies.

Run a continuity check on the "hot" wire at the solonoid.
It could be corroded or broken.

Figured it somewhat out. I made a mistake and switched the selnoid wires around. lol But, that still doesn't explain why it quit and woundn't start and had no power in the first place. Electrical short?
