ok my truck has been having problems for a while. it wont start every so often but lately it has been alot more frequent. it will start and then the rpms go all the way down till it dies then it just turns over. other times it wont even start at all just turns over the whole time. my grandpa thinks it is the distributar cap is getting wet. i know that an engine needs 2 things to start fuel and spark so it can only bee a couple of things. i really need your guys help here. i cant be driving a truck that is unreliable when i have to get to work.

Get a new cap, wires, and plugs. My old nissan frontier was doing the same thing yours is. It stopped once I changes all those things. If that doesn't work, move on to the next step. which I'm hoping someone else will chime in and let us know.

Yea I'm thinking about doing a full tune up here soon to my rig. Usually people don't do it until around 60k miles. I'm at 52k right now.

Tune up ftw

Well it is most likely not the distributor cap and rotor, primarily since you don't have one.

Sounds like a lack of fuel. Suspect would be the fuel pump or filter. The fuel pressure should be about 35psi. I bet if you check, it will be low.

as fireranger said you don't have a dist cap and rotor....you have 2 coil packs..........do a full tuneup as suggested......change the fuel filter first....and a fuel pressure test would be good also

you actually need 4 things to start an engine, fuel, spark compression and timing....

As been stated you proably should replace the fuel filter and then do a fuel pressure test. the filte ris about $10 and the tool is about $10. You can borrow a fuel pressure tester from the stores or buy one from harber frieght for as little as $20 here is a link to the FF swap. Go to post #15

we need feedback......does it turnover/crank and just not start....or does it not crank over at all?...........if it cranks over have you tried spraying starter fluid into the TB......etc, etc,.......plenty of help here but we need detailed, coherent feedback....

^^Do this. I had the same exact problem you're having, and changing the fuel filter solved it. My truck hasn't not started in 4 days now.

ok guys im here now. my mom had the l;aptop for 2 days so i couldnt get on to leave feed back. so i changhed the fuel filter and that solved nuthing. we finally got it started by pulling it down the road with my gpas dually. that was yesterday and it started the rest of the day. i have not tried yet today but plan on trying it later when i get home

So now you're pop-starting it, which has nothing to do with fuel, spark, or anything else. Are you now saying that you're battery was dead??

no im saying that pulling it down the road in gear with the key turned on sucks the gas to the engine. my batteries not dead trust me

Pulling it down the street in gear is not sucking fuel into your engine. It's a pressurized fuel system. The fuel pump creates pressure. Fuel is pushed in, not sucked in. So, as we've suggested several times, you need to check your fuel pressure.
