You cant calcualte MPG by estimating whats in the tank. Do it the right way then report back. Fill your truck up - Reset Trip - Drive - Then do Miles driven/Fuel pumped=MPG.

Take it or leave it buddy. I know what my truck is doing in mileage I'm paying for it.

Back to maintenance..... Plugs are not fresh, but not super old. Fact is this just started over the winter. Air filter is only minor amount of dirt. Truck has no codes, is actually very clean so the issue is an odd one.

I am not trying to be a smart ass but you started a thread about bad MPG and then you explain how you calculated it and its not a good way to do it. I am not saying there is an exact science to it but before you go tearing your truck apart looking for a problem that might not exist you may want to recalculate your MPG. Your truck looks clean and you look like you take care of it so I am just trying to help.

I am glad to hear that 19 is more common in the summer with the AC on, that's what I was looking for. Pretty much gonna troubleshoot it from here, just wanted to know I wasn't remembering improperly the summer gas costs.

The road I live on is 50 mph so I usually pull 1st, 2nd, and coast in 3rd. My performance is what you'd expect of a 2.5L.

Well you can't factor in the small part left unless you add the miles onto that.... Always take the miles you've driven from a full tank and divide by number of gallons.

in order to pull 13.5 mpg on 235 miles you would have had to use 17.5 gallon of fuel. Thats 6.5 gallons more than your 11 you put in, something is not adding up here, maybe your fuel gauge is screwed up. You must of had less gas than what you thought when you put the 11 gallon in. You will have to fill up and post again. To many variables in your equation

I'd suggest that you don't go by the gas gage. Fill the tank, reset the trip meter, use most of the gas in the tank (at least down to quarter tank on the gage) then refill and note how much gas you actually used to go however many miles are on the trip meter. I usually start with a full tank, do at least three tank refills, noting the total miles driven for those three tanks. That will give a pretty accurate average MPG figure.

Also remember, if stations just started selling gas/alcohol blend in your area your mileage will drop. I've seen estimates that state 10% ethanol can decrease economy by up to 20%.

You mean there was gas left in the tank after u went the 234 miles or there was gas left in it before you filled it up? If there was gas left in it after the 234 miles then your gettin even better than 20 mpg. Your stuff isnt adding up right bud.

Yeah Im ima agree with DangerRanger his math seems right I did it myself aha.

But if you have doubts you should try putting GUMOUT Full Engine Deposit Cleaner in your rigg it helped mine out. put it in your gas tank when its near empty it cleans out your engine EtC. try it out.

Hell post how yoou figures out how to get your mileage. Your math could be wrong, because I agree with everyone else

Edit: I just read the post above with the video, if you cruse in 3rf gear at 50mph, your revving your engine too high. You should be crusing in 5th at that speed
