Default 1996 Ford Ranger

Hey guys, not really new just dont post much.

My Ranger recently broke down and I am having a hard time figuring it out.

I just left work and was driving maybe 2 or 3 minutes. I just got on the expressway when my truck start sputtering. I got 2 miles before it finally would not let me go at all. ( I was trying to get off the dangeous expressway.) The engine died a few times but always started back up until it wouldnt go. If the battery didnt die, it would start right back up right now. The best way to explain it is it was running like I just ran out of gas but would still start back up.

I ran the codes a few months ago and it came back ECR valve, o2 sensor bank 2, and other codes that I guess are common.

As I was wating for the tow truck, I checked my oil and it was a milky medium brown. There was enough oil in it. Now I check it and its dark and says it needs a quart.

Any help would be appreciated. From the research I have done, its the o2 sensors. But the oil scares me.

If your oil was milky brown you got water or coolant in it. Cracked head? Blown head gasket? After sitting the oil and water could have separated.

Is it missing at all?

If your oil is a milky color it's got a head gasket issue at least. If your battery died it sounds like alternator. Easy fix, not the cheapest, but better then head gaskets lol
