Default 1997 2.3L Ranger died after WOT

Yesterday while driving I needed to get on it to avoid some idiot but it bogged down at WOT and then died on me. Then the truck wouldn't start...there was plenty of battery and the starter kept cranking it just didn't want to fire up. This all happened right after starting it up so the engine wasn't hot.

After about 5 minutes of sitting and trying it finally started. You guys have any ideas of what would cause this?

Plugged fuel filter, air filter, low gas! Is the check engine light on?

No CEL. Air filter is new and MAF is clean. I'll replace the fuel filter and see happens.

Also since I bought this truck every time I would accelerate hard at WOT it would seem to bog down. It hadn't died on me before but that may be because I always let off when I felt it start to bog down?

Does this sound like a fuel pump or fuel filter problem?

i've had similar issues on a couple vehicles... your catalytic convertor may be getting plugged, and when you hit the gas you are having backpressure causing it to bog down
