Default 1997 2.3L starts then dies

Hello-
I have a 1997 ranger, 2.3L. Today I was driving, experienced sudden loss of power (engine, not electrical) and then the engine shut off.
I coasted to the shoulder. Truck will start but then dies quickly (5 sec. or less). If I give it gas and rev it up it stays running for maybe 10-20 seconds, but then will die again. The engine responds sluggishly to the accelerator while I am revving. Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Thank you for the responses guys. I cleaned the EGR and IAC valve, replaced the fuel filter, replaced PCV valve and truck was still acting up. Finally I replaced the MAF sensor ($120) and the truck fired right up! Game on.

If you found a PCV valve on a 97 2.3, please share where.

All I can find is a breather coming out of the cam cover.

Thanks,

Never mind, found it. About 6 inches in front of the oil filter, and 6 inches up. Between the first 2 plugs, you can see it from the top between the intake runners.
