need some info from my 2.3 D-tec brothers
i'm preparing to do the first oil change on my 06 2.3 D-tec, the thing is i don't have the owners manual so i have no specs on how many quarts, or what filter to use... so any of the 2.3 D-tec owners could pass that info on, that would be pretty much appreciated
thanks

thanks alot. i had thought about running mobil 1 in it, but i have run mobil 1 in my 01 2.5L ranger, and my corvette, and just not impressed with it, but before that i have been a solid castrol GTX uster, and had no complaints with it... i'm pretty sure it holds 5 quarts, just wasn't sure on a filter, i know my 01 took i believe it was the FL 2005... but didn't know if the 2.3's took a different filter

yea my chevy truck manuel told me 6 so i put 6 in it and it burnt oil for about 30 minutes cuz it was too much so just put 4 or 4.5 and see where its at.....by the way with aimsoil you dont have to change for 15000 thats what weve done my purple ever since it had 60,000 on it and it now has 383,000 and still goin good

FL400S. 4 to 4.5 quarts. The FL910 is also listed for the truck, but it's a smaller filter. It will work, but I prefer the larger filter area of the FL400S. Don't go with anything less than the Motorcraft Semi-Syn 5w20. I personally prefer Royal Purple, but still change the oil every 5000 miles. Oh, and please use the Motorcraft filter. Oil changes and filters are not a place to skimp if you plan on keeping this truck.

I changed mine recently & it takes 4 quarts + filling the filter which took about 1/4 of a quart. I used Mobil1 0W-20 & the Mobil1 filter.
I have used Mobil1 synthetic since 1993 & I swear by it. I am sure there are other quality oils out there.

for years i had been a fram oil filter user until one of my friends showed me how poorly they are made, so for the past 10 years or so i have been a WIX filter user, and castrol oil user

Once I became a mechanic at a used car lot and after seeing my circle track car blow up like c4 (flames that took the whole car) due to a bad piston and high octane fuel and still run afterwards (the car had amsoil in it) I changed to full synthetic amsoil and swore by it and now use royal purple.

10w-20 5w-20. Autozone or any auto parts store has books on what filter to pick up. I forget whhich one I pick up. I usually have to look at the book every time.
5 quarts is usually good. I like to buy their big bottles that holds the 5 quarts b/c then I can dump the old oil into those to return to the store for their recycle bins.

My '08 holds 4 quarts - as for the Amsoil, I've experimented with and run UOA on a a couple of oils before I decided to stick with Amsoil. Now have 22,500 miles on the truck and at 20k I started using SS 0w30 and plan on doing 1 YEAR/15,000 mile oil drains. Will do a UOA next November.
...My 1st posting, BTW - hello everybody.

Go to your local Advance Auto Parts, and they can look up the filter, and the quarts and factory recommended oil for it.
