Default uhh starting issus? damn!

well to start off its a completely rebuilt 2.3l .40 over everything else is stock. everything is plugged in and hoocked up. when we try to start it it turns over and fires but does not start. when you hold the gas to to the floor it turns over and fires, tries to start. all timing marks line up all the connectors are in the right spot. has more than enough compression has good fire, i have tried everything i could think of. startin fluid. (guy at ford dealership) battary, adjusted timing, changes the gas, new injectors. checked fuel pressure.(strong fuel pressure), changed the crank trigger, ignition module, neg positive bat cables... i honestly do not know what else to do....

please any help would be great..

thanks, marc!

Timing

Sounds like your a tooth or two off on a pulley or two
I know you think your not, I did too.

Check the threads I started recently (past 3mo) regarding timing. I took 20+ times before I got it right.

I went as far as to count the actual number of teeth on the pulleys and belt and how many teeth between all of them.

Search this forum, or my screenname because I think I started the thread

There are several recent threads on this in this specific forum (4cyl tech)

Welcome to the board!

^^Ditto on the timing

the 2.3l is one of the pickiest motors i've ever played with when it comes to timing....
you may think its perfect but it may just be 10* off and that could cause all your problems

Check the ignition timing with a timing light, bet it is off and it could be because the cam timing is off. Sounds retarded

Spoke with Marc last night:

He swears timing is dead on (i don't think it is)

None the less I suggested getting a fuel pressure gauge hooked up on the shrader valve on the valve stem and check fuel pressure at key turn/fuel pump prime, AND while cranking. Just to make sure

But yea timing lol

You can check the timing without the motor running, you have to have two persons, one trying to start it and the other with timing light connected checking the timing.
