Default :::Replace WaterPump & Tensioner With Timing Belt?

Hello!

I have a 2001 Ranger with the 2.5L engine, with 150k. I changed the original timing belt @ 80k, along with the timing belt tensioner and spring (which broke), along with the water pump.

Now my engine has about 150k, and I am looking into having the timing belt changed for a second time. What's a fair price to have it done? Also, should I change the water pump and timing belt tensioner/spring, or leave them alone? I plan on keeping my Ranger till it dies (in other words, for a very, very long time).

Thanks in advance, for your help and suggestions !

I have been a Wrench Monkey for years and I usually suggest changing it. Look at it this way you can buy the parts now and have them changed while it is being worked on or chance having to pay again for it to be torn down again.

yes,for a extra $50 i'd have them do it.I would think $125-$150 is a good range to pay to have them done, parts about $75 and shouldn't take much over a hour at a shop

I don't know, I think the water pump is probably unnecessary. Most vehicles go through zero or one water pump replacement in their entire lifespan. Replacing it just because you're replacing other things doesn't make sense, especially when it's already been replaced once. Don't bother unless it is actually in need of replacement, which it probably isn't. Unless you're using seawater for coolant, it is probably just fine.

Sorry for not revisiting this thread sooner, but I want to thank you all, for your replies .

Sounds like I got taken the last time I had the job done: timing belt replacement + belt tensioner + belt tensioner spring + water pump = about $700.
