Default synthetic oil with a regular oil filte?

Hey guys,

I'm going to convert to a synthetic motor oil soon and I was wondering if I need to use a synthetic oil filter. Or would a regular oil filter be fine?

Thanks -

Might consider changing your turn signal fluid to synthetic. I did and now my turn signals blink a lot smoother :}

LOL just watch, in a couple years, someone is going to make an excuse to make synthetic wiper blade fluid...or make wiper blades have a small engine that requires synthetic oil.

----------

What about motorcraft?

Both myself and my dad (unknowingly) tried motorcraft once recently and will never go back. It looked used coming out of the jug.

Motorcraft is excellent oil no matter what you and your dad think. If you based your "looked used" statement based on the way the oil looks, I would hate to think what your dad thinks of Royal Purple.

Thanks for being a dick. My dad has been building his cars since high school. I trust him. I meant not only color but also lots of shit floating around in it. The viscosity of it also was way off. This is what I meant by looking used.

Gee, what was the viscosity of the Motorcraft oil compared to what it was suppose to be?

I got a couple of Mann oil filters lined up for my next two oil changes. I'm supposing that being synthetic, the fibers can be controlled or oriented better during manufacture. Also maintain form better during use, which adds heat and other variables.
But synthetic oil does not require or benefit from a synthetic type of filter.

On the other hand I would suppose using a synthetic filter would be better when using conventional since it would tend to be less effected by the additives than a filter with organic filter media.

So you sent the oil somewhere to have the viscosity checked? I'm going to go ahead and say you are a liar.

Awesome, I'm probably going to do that...since they're way cheaper than K&N or Fram
