Oil Change Schedule

Wonder who schedule do you go by?

1- Ford's 7,500 miles or 6 months.

2- Dealer/oil shops 3,00 or 3 months.

I'm going with Ford's saying in the book. The reason I ask is I get a postcard in the mail from the dealer say I'm way past my oil change! I'm thinking okay, I still got time with my 7,500/6 months change.

I am sure the dealer/rapid oil change shop push the 3/3 to make sales/money.

I'm plan on sticking with the 7/6, unless someone here can tell me why I must do the 3/3.

Like you said the quick lubes just want your money?

Curious why don't you save some money and do it yourself?

I've gone to a Rapid oil change place with my last car. I will go to the dealer I got the truck from, I gotten coupons and what not from them, it's almost cheaper to let them do it.

I could of done it myself, but I've been renting places up till 5 years ago so really had no place to store the ramps and what not. When we brought our house, but just didn't see the point of having to get all the stuff for it and worrying about getting rid of the used oil.

Depends on the use it gets.

My Mustang = Driven hard (track days) & it gets about 4000 miles a year on it. I change it twice a year with mobil1 synthetic extended interval.

My Ranger = driven like a grandpa going to church on Sunday. I changed the oil the 1st time at 2700 miles to get the break in stuff out of there. Used Mobil1 synthetic 0W-20 which I will run untill spring (6000 - 8000 miles)
then I will switch to 5W-20 & run it untill next fall.(7000-8000 miles)

my wifes Toyota Yaris = every 6000 miles. 80% highway miles & driven average to easy.
And of course use Mobil1 synthetic extended interval.

I used to run the same oil but changed all my vehichles at 3000 miles.

^^As Snowball says, factor in the usage your truck gets.

Also 7K and 3K aren't your only choices, I change mine every 5K (or sometimes sooner if I've been offroading/towing/etc).

You can dispose of the oil at autozone and some other auto stores.

What does a ford dealer charge for a oil change

ford here it's a hole $34 dollars with a coupon other wise it like $50.

to get 6 qt. oil at $4 a qt. then a tough guard filter $6. so right there your lookin at 26 bucks.

hay for $8 dollars more ill set and watch the dealers boob tube wile a Ase certified Pearson dose it for me. plus it keeps my records for when i have a prob it show hes done all the maintenance's on his truck ford wont deny me my claims if any should arise.

and yes i did and still do all the stuff on my 07 expedition but its bought and payed for same with my 2001 e350, and the 97 f 350 i still do them cause there payed for and in December when this truck is payed for ill start doing it!

i change mine out every 3,000-3,500 miles but i'd call my driving severe duty. as it's used as my daily driver/firedept calls/tow rig/ or whatever is needed at the time.
i buy my filters at walmart and use the motorcraft brand filter and use penzoil 5w30 oil. then i recycle the oil to a 55 gal drum to be used in my waste oil furnance in the garage or for bar oil in my chain saw i carry this time of year for fallen trees we have to deal with on public roads for the f.d..

I put my used.oil in a 5 gal and bring it to the zone when needed. I just bought 5+ of mobil 1 and a mobil 1 filter for $30at the zone. I think the quick lubes get about $75 for that and I like doing it

I just checked with Valvoline instant oil change, $67 for full synthetic oil change. I try to be accurate with my info and I should not have thrown that out here with out documentation........... my bad. but that still leaves almost enough for 2 cases of budlight from Costo's 8-)

I had my oil changed last week (6months) at the dealer I got the truck from for $21.

Motorcraft premium synthetic oil was used, safety points checked and all fluid topped off.

As Blue, said it's on paper so if something goes wrong under warranty, it's in writing that I've been on top of the maint. as Ford calls for in their manual.

That must be a deal they give you while the truck is under warranty. I think you I would do it too and keep it documented. ARe you suppose to wait until about 10 or 15k for the synthetic correct?......... because if that is the everyday? anyone price........wait a minute i will be right back i am putting my economics degree to use....2+2-4=0 carry the one subtract 12 buds add 1 hamburger... I got..... quick lubes should be out of business..........

$50? I don't think I ever paid that much for an oil change! Mine was $21.
