Default IAC and EGR

my ranger kinda idles real low at stop lights like at 500-600 rpms, so i went and bought a new iac from advance auto, and when i put the new one on, my truck would not stay on unless i was on the gas?? it makes no sense, so i cleaned my old one out wit carb cleaner and it worked good, but its idling low as hell again and i wanna fix it but i rather put a new one on there, but like i said it wont stay runnin and i dont get it, and i wanna either replace my egr or clean it out to but i cant find it, any suggestions or pics of where its at?
90 ranger, 2wd, flowmaster dual exhaust, 2.3l, roll pan, billet grill, clear corner lights and head lights, charcoal gray.

04 Mazda b3000 dual sport 2wd, stock for now hopefully lifting soon!

I'm not an expert by any means, but I am pretty sure when you put a new IAC on you have to adjust it so it idles correctly. So since you already have the new one, maybe someone on here can tell you how to adjust that, if that is what it needs.

The IAC valve is operated by an electric wire which operates the motor to operate the valves. There is nothing on the IAC valve to adjust idle.

To adjust idle you have to check your screw on the throttle body and turn it to the rpm you want it to be set at.

The EGR looks something like a little UFO, it should have a plastic piece with a wire harness. Two bolts, one on top and one kind of under it. The bottom one is difficult, it is simply a bit at a time, and per your descriptions, it sounds like it needs to be cleaned.
You may have a filter screen. If so, it is junk.
I took a EGR gasket as a template and cut out a bit of steel to use as a block off plate.
I suggest that everybody do it, if they can get away with it.
