Re: high highway rpm or is this normal
with that gear ratio that is in the normal rpm range for that speed. did you correct your speedo to compensate the gearing change?

Re: high highway rpm or is this normal
I don't think that it could cause any damage. You will be putting more hours on the engine.
10 hours at 3000 rpm at 60 mph = 600 miles or 1.8 million rotations
10 hours at 2000 rpm at 60 mph = 600 miles or 1.2 million rotations
Is that math right? Did I miss something?
Do you have the old gears to put back in?

Re: high highway rpm or is this normal
I'm running 3.45 rear end with 195/60R15 tires, with a 4 speed. Translates 3000RPM at 60, 4000RPM at 80.
I've had it rev to 6800 ONCE by accident during testing and it actually sounded surprisingly solid, but never under load lol

Re: high highway rpm or is this normal
I can get mine to 110 in forth gear @ 4500rpm. If I put it in 5th it'll start losing speed.

Re: high highway rpm or is this normal
Yeah that sounds about right for those gears. What size tire you running? My dads ranger we just put in 4.10's and hes running 235's. Im not sure what the rpms are but hes getting about 400/tank. I would look at some larger tires and keep your speed down to keep rpm down. My 4.0 sohc has 4.10's with 235's and it runs at 3100 at 70, I drive it around at about 62 to keep rpm down.
