Default 2000 ford ranger 2.5L wants to start, but won't

I have a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT, 2.5L, and i was driving home one day and it died on me and i let it cool for a little bit and it fired up and ran intil i got home, then it was running like crap and died, so i left it sit for a couple of weeks and now i need to get it fixed because its my only vehicle at the moement, so i pulled it in the garage and it turns over and wants to fire but won't, and i checked the fuel, its got fuel pressure, and i checked the oil made sure it wasn't milky or anything, and the oil's fine, and i sprayed starting fluid in the trottle body and that didn't really make a difference, like i said you can hear the truck trying to fire but it won't, so is there any other suggestions that could be the cause of this or no?

sounds similar to mine. i broke the connecting rod on the number one piston. do a compression test to save some time.

I have had a similiar problem at time with an 86 Ranger which was the first year for EFI. All it takes sometimes is for a sensor that is not working and keeping the computer happy to cause your problem. I had a batch of Throttle Position Sensors that caused the same problem. They are easy to change, I would start with it. IF, you can get it running, you could have an auto parts dealer use a scanner on it. The auto parts dealers here do this as a free service. The car dealers charge for it. Hope this helps.

Scanner saying anything is lean could mean the fuel pressure is low. You didn't give the miles. There is a fuel pressure relay that controls both fuel pumps, sometimes they go bad. I would check the fuel pressure with a gauge next.

so heres the deal, i didn't start having these problems intil i got it back from the shop from getting a new exaust done, i think they pulled some shit, because when i was browsing around the hood i found the injector unplugged? so i plugged it back in and now the truck runs, but it runs terrible and smokes like its not burning fuel or something, imma put new plugs and wires in and see if that helps. any other suggestions?

If its running lean, check for air leaks....cracked intake, loose vacuum lines...

heres a video of how its running, the truck has 227,218 miles, but that engine was replaced at 178,000 with a motor that had less then 30,000 on it, and it ran fine up intil now.

P.s. ignore that plug wire thats just hanging there, i have another plug wire hooked up because i broke the medal thing out on the other wire, so all plugs have spark and are connected, i just have that wire chillin there becuz i cant figure how to open that plastic clap up.

Remember, you have to have fuel with the right fuel pressure, compression, airflow, and spark to make an engine run correctly.

----------

Plus if you hear knocking then your bearings are shot or your fixing to have a piston rod come out at you..

i also forgot to add, i do have the proper fuel pressure and and compression, i tested all the basics and no its not knocking it only knocks when it dies but when your on the gas to keep it at a low idling level it runs normal just when the motor warms up it you can here it startin to miss and smell it some burnin shit then it shuts down?

oh and also when i attempt to drive it down the road it does not have any take off power, even when i shift at a high rpm it still doesn't have normal acceleration.

I removed the air tube off the trottle body to get to the spark plug wire under it, and i notice there's oil in the trottle body? I know its not suppose to be in the trottle body? Could this be the cause why my truck run's like crap? I have a image below showing the oil in my trottle body.
