running bad got some codes
Hello, i just bout a 94 ranger 2.3 manual trans, it had a slight miss, so i low balled the guy and got it cheap. i have not had a gas motor in years and starting to remember why... ok , so, let me start by saying my tach does not read over 1000 rpm's, it moves ,but not over 1000. i pulled codes koeo test i got 2 quick blinks thats it ** retest showed the same ** 2 quick blinks. I read somewhere that means pass... humm? koer test went like this *** 3 quick blinks then *********9pause*********9 pause ********8pause **2pause**2pause**2pause****4 then the cycle started over. The best i can tell this mean codes 99 8 22 24? correct? or am i reading this wrong? I do know that 2 intake side plugs on the front coil have no spark, its a new coil pack as well.
I really dont wanna through a bunch of money in this chasing a little miss, it runs decent enough to not rack up miles on my powerstroke, but if i can fix it easily id like to.. Help me out if you can..
P.s. i read somewhere here that the tach not working correctly can indicate a problem?
To update. I did alot of reading and most of what i read pointed to the icm, but i dont wanna throw that kinda money into it on a quim, so i figured id pull it off, go to the salavge yard and try a used one. That sucker aint real easy to get too is it? Ha ha, well, it looks like someone already messed with this, cuz its missing the top left bolt. i read somwhere the bolts must be in place to get a proper ground. so, i figured id try to put a bolt in that hole....uuut ohhh it is either not threaded,or a bolt is broke off in the hole...is this causing a problem? it seems silly to me that it would, but thats why im asking...
Ok, so, i did some more reasearch and bought a cheap scanner(and followed directions) The codes i listed above should be read like this 998,224. 998 means the koeo test was not completed, 224 would be erratic signal to pcm, if i remember right. However, i guess i need to fix the koeo before i can do a correct koer test? so, i retested koeo test and got these codes(they were not here on first test, i may have done it wrong) 335(when engine was cold, it later went away) then 519.. this one confuses me, because it states open circit to psp, what the heck does that have to do with anything?power steering pump i cant find a solution to that anywhere...help please
