Default Carb adjustment

I just rebuilt my carb on my 1985 2.0. I need to know how to figure out if my adjustments are correct. Im haveing trouble getting it to idle...

I know virtually nothing about carbs: I took mine off and had someone else rebuilt it and followed his instruction to get mine running::

Turn the fuel adjuster (PITA to get to, next to valve cover) IN (rich) and then loosen it until it hogs out (lean) then go back in 1 turn.

Turn the Idle adjuster (other side/ by the fender), in to go higher and out to go lower.

I adjusted fuel first, then the idle, then the fuel again to make sure. And I've put 2000mi on my rebuilt block with the carb adjusted as such.
