Default correct idle rpm

2009 Ford Ranger 4-cyl, auto with air. Seems to idle too high. Starts cold at about 1500 rpm which seems fine, but after warming up whether in gear at a stop, or in neutral the idle is at 900. Just bought the truck, should I take it back to dealer. What is the proper low idle? Air is off. Thanks for any help.

I have a 1989 2.3 L . Is there anyway to tell what my idle is RPM wise? It was before Ford put the RPM guage in the cluster's. It feel's like it idles to low like it wants to die when it's cold at first. Is this bad??

your vehicle's idle should be on the underhood emissions decal

I am curious also. What is the normal idle for an 89 6cyl? I don't have an underhood sticker.....

perfect idle for most engines either in park or neutral should be between 600-900rpm... any lower and it will act like it's gonna die... any higher is a waste of fuel(except winter when warming)

I have an 01 that idles around 800 - 900 as well. Think that is pretty normal from what i have researched.
