Default Truck will Not start, turns, spark, fuel good. details inside

Hello everyone,

I come to you today with my first major issue. I went to start the truck today to go to work. Hopped in, got over excited and blipped the key with the clutch on and in first. Apparently my clutch position switch is going bad/is bad because the engine turned over. I released the key right away as to not run into anything. After that I depressed clutch and turned the truck over. It turns but does not start. Let it sit for a moment and tried again. same issue will not start. I Pulled a spark plug in cylinder 3 and grounded and it sparks. I removed the cover on the schrader valve on the fuel rail and pressed it with a screwdriver and fuel came out. I removed the intake ducting attached to the intake/throttle body and sprayed some starting fluid into it with the throttle butterfly opened up. tried to start, no change.

I am in dire straights at the moment as i need my truck 7 days a week. My concerns at this exact moment are 1) valve timing aka timing belt jumped a tooth, and 2) compression issues.

If anyone can give me more of an idea as to where to go at this point that would be great. I do not have a compression gauge or anything to test that with. I also have no access to a vehicle until at least 530pm.

I forgot to mention that I drove the truck less than 2 hours before this and had no issues.

Thank you!
Wily

please create a signature so people know what kind of truck and specs they're dealing with per questions...

So that eliminates timing belt.

Since it's an on/off no start I'd disconnect my battery and hit all the electrical connections and grounds I could find with wire dryer just to begin with.

thx mick,

This seems silly to me but I wonder if it got flooded or something when it was on and off so quick. I am going to try and investigate it more tomorrow if I can when I get to the auto lab.

That being said, I KNOW this timing belt needs to be done. You can hear how loose it is! Looking at it you can see the belt is starting to crack. I doubt it was ever done, or at least not since the 60k mark.

needs new plugs too, the electrode is round and mega tapered/worn.

Thanks!
Wily

Thx Terry,

I am going to call this the Timing Belt Scare, lol. I am bumping this project up my list a bit and I am going to try and do it soon.

Thx again
