2.3L Rear main seal replacement?
Is it hard to replace a rear main seal in a 2.3L?
Do I just have to unbolt the rear crank cap?

Re: 2.3L Rear main seal replacement?
It's really easy:, once you have the transmission out.
Step 1: Remove transmission
Step 2: Pry out old rear main seal
Step 3: Smack in new rear main seal
Step 4: Reinstall transmission
actually replacing the seal took less than a minute when I had my motor out

Re: 2.3L Rear main seal replacement?
The seal is a circle about 4" in diameter, with a width and depth of about 1/8".
It sits around the back of the crankshaft. You will have to unbolt the clutch/pressure plate, and remove the flywheel in order to even see it,.

Re: 2.3L Rear main seal replacement?
Had to take out most of my engine main caps...so I could lower crank.

Uhhhh
You don't touch the main bearings to do a rear main seal. It's pressed on to the back of the block. If you tilted the crank by removing "most" but not all of the main caps than you may have damaged the crank, or main bearings, or bearings surfaces. Please explain what you mean

Re: 2.3L Rear main seal replacement?
I removed all of them. My bearings were fine and crank was too.
I couldn't get the seals out so I have to lower the crank some.

Re: 2.3L Rear main seal replacement?
Bearings were good.
I tried prying the rear main seal out without removing the caps but it was in there tight.
