Default Burping The Coolant System

Hey Guy's !

New to the site so thanks in advance for answering my dumb questions.

Recently swapped out the T Stat in my 98 and now I can't get the water to flow through the system. I have heat and the temp gage is working and not showing any overheating but she is hot due to no flow.

So what's the best way to get trapped air out and get the system flowing ?

Thanks !

See if this proceedure works for you.

With the engine cool remove the radiator cap, start the engine and let it run until the radiator "burps". You will see the coolant level drop and may see or hear a large air bubble come to the top as the system burps.

Keep an eye on the temperature gauge throughout this process.

Refill the radiator to the top and coolant reservoir as needed.

Put the radiator cap back on.

If the engine runs hot after this procedure there may be another pocket of air that needs to be "burped." Let the engine cool down and then add more coolant to both the radiator and the coolant reservoir and repeat.

In addiion it has been my experiance that a stab on the throttle helps get the air pocket out. (with the radiator cap removed)
