Ok so i tried this before but thred got old plus got some updates

ok EVERY and when i say EVERY i mean EVERY sensor is NEW
all else is under 3k old
plugs
wires
entire distributer, shaft, pickup, module, button, cap
timing belt
fuel filter
air filter
seafoamed intake and gas tank
timing is correct
no cat
EGR is disconnected, but its shut
no gunk inside engine
vac is 20 in hg at idle with no gauge flutter


runs good, has good power

and im lost on why i get 15MPG normal average driving, my last thought was DUH i never reset the computer for it after the new stuff but dang about 5 less MPG than what i should get come on

last thought new injectors maybe ...... maybe a gas leak that only happens at cruising RPMs, but i see no evidence of a gas leak on any of the lines or tank with it at an idle

15 mpg is normal for a ranger honestly i dont think u have any issues

idk man, these things are said to average at least around 25mpg mixed driving, age should be a big factor in it. loook at the 80's chevy luv, one measured today still got around 45 mpg highway.i got an 88 2.3l and it seems to average better than that, ill do the mpg test to get some results.

LOL no just about all of them were way out of whack, so i figured spend an extra $100 and replace every one of them.......i broke the distb when replacing the pick up on it fuel filter and all was original. it ran like a turd when i got it, i wish i had videos of before and after for yall, the P.O. thought that changing the oil ever 3k was taking great care of something

im just happy the engine is strong and has good vaccum and has no sludge in it

My 83 2wd 2.3L gets 15-20 driving around town/ mountains snow or shine. Doesn't seem to change much.

This is the 4 banger section....getting under 20 mpg overall indicates a problem or a driver who rides the rev limiter most of the time.

Things to consider:
Automatic or standard transmission?
Read end ratio?
Personal driving style?
Engine wear? (low compression is a gas waster)

I have a 96 2.3 5 speed standard with 150,000 miles on it.

Depending on how I drive in a particular week I can get anywhere between 15 and 24 mpg.

i shift at like 2500, its never hot rodded, 3.73 rear, and with 20 in hg, IMO would mean good compression, bad compression sees like 17 or under normaly

but i found the problem...... a gas leak, on that stupid canister between the tank and high presure fuel pump

from 14.9 / 15.0 to 16.9 just by a computer reset, still got that small gas leak too
