prefered oil filter and oil
I'm trying to get a 92 ranger with a 3.2 engine on the road. It's not been running since 2007. What brand and weight of oil and oil filter brand and number number would you recommend? I plan to change often until I feel it's cleaned out.

Agreed with the filter, you can also try a synthetic oil to clean it up a bit

Re: prefered oil filter and oil
don't get fram oil filters, we took them apart in my auto tech class. They are shitty as hell, won't even last 3000 miles.

Re: prefered oil filter and oil
Wix, Napa Gold, PureOne, Mobil1, and Bosch oil filters are all made by the same company. Regular Purolator filters are good too.
As far as oil, that's up to you. Even cheap synthetic oils will do a decent job of cleaning the engine out. It might be better to put a 1/3 can of Seafoam in the crankcase for about 100 miles as well to give it a real good scrubbing.

PureOne is the premium model of the Purolator brand. I can't remember what's different about it and a standard Purolator though.
