Default Preventive maintenance?

Is there any type of transmission maintenance I could perform on my truck that could prevent it from breaking down? Since I've had it I've only performed basic maintenance on it i.e. oil changes, air filter, brakes, wipers, spark plugs, tire rotation, etc.

change out the gear oil in it and thats all i can think of. Its not a auto so you should only have to worry about the clutch/slave throw out bearing stuff like that. Autos will take a dump on you and theres 3g's gone there

rear differential. what turns your rear tires change that out if your truck has over 100k.

the best stuff for that is royal purple. Buts its expensive but the best. Use that in the trans and the rear diff.

Well thats not a good sign. lol Differential oil is a oil that it is specifically formulated to provide proper lubrication for the gears in the differential of a truck. What sets this oil apart from regular oil is that its more thick, or viscous.

Don't forget to change the clutch fluid every three years. It's brake fluid and it sucks in moisture from the air. If it's black, it's over due. New brake fluid is damn near transparent. There is a bleeder valve on the slave cylinder in the transmission that you access through the access hole on the driver's side of the bell housing.
