I don't believe that 4X4's are made with a 4 cyl. I believe the stock engine is the 4.0. Dave

Quite a few 4 bys came thur with 4 cyl.I thought they stopped in 94 but seen a 97-98 yesterday with a 4 cyl.

My 85 has a 2.3L but I'm fixing to sell it. Engine messed up.

If I recall correctly, they made 4 banger 4wd rangers up until 1997...
I've tried to look for one, but they seem to be super rare/non existent.

It would be cool if anyone could post pics of their 2.3L 4x4 if they got one..

i just got one the other day traded a good runnin chevy for it.. prolly shouldnt have lol but i like my fords.. this one ive got is an 85 2.3l 4x4 and the guy i got it from has wireing a mess, something keeps draining the battery, theres a toggle switch running the fan and the fuel pump, and it runs like shit, like it overloads its self and runns real rich..if i turn the key off and un hook the battery it runs better than if i leav the battery hooked up and key on.. what should i look for or what can i do to fix this thing? ne ideas ?
