Rough starting problem as well as high/low idle problem
Well, just recently my Rangers been having some massive starting problems as well as idleing problems.
Sometimes whenever I try to start my truck, it turns over but it wont actually crank the engine. It takes a bit of holding the key down to even get the thing semi started then I have to sit and wait while my engine bogs back and forth till it fully starts.
That's problem 1
Problem 2 is below
Now that I have my truck started, most of the time after it starts the engine revs really high like its about to explode. Also whenever I go down the road and come to a stop, the engine will stayed revved even at a complete stop for around 15-20 seconds. It will idle down but when it idles down it idles waaaaaay to low. This causes me to have to keep my foot on the clutch and push the throttle a bit so I can actually get a bit of gas flow going. I usually have to wait about 3 seconds before I can go anywhere or my truck will shutdown.
----------
Theres been speculation that it may be the Idle Air Control Valve.

Clean throttle body, IAC, MAF, replace all filters. Change plugs and wires.

So I'm assuming with that being said it's pretty much a clog issue or a very unclean vehicle haha....or both

Re: Rough starting problem as well as high/low idle problem
Last maintenance I did on it was about 3 months ago. The only thing that hasn't been done yet is an oil change. Low on money so I have to do all my maintenance piece by piece mostly.

the first step in DXing is checking for codes!
What year is the truck? is CEL on? does CEL come one when you first turn the key to run?

It's a 94.
The cel is an on and off thing. I've never had a problem like this with my truck. Mainly the col is on and I've checked my oil several times even changed it and it still stays on.
