the truck will crank up and drive but then the truck wont crank it will turn over but no fire and if we let the truck sit for a couple of days and it will fire up and run again

It is a fuel injected truck and what is a way to check fuel pressure

on the fuel rail there should be a nozzle that looks somewhat like a valve stem

get a fuel pressure tester and connect the gauge to that valve

i have no idea on what psi it should be though.....


start with the cheap things first....check/change the fuel filter....

I'm having the same problem with my '85 2.3 FI Ranger. Did you ever find the solution to your problem?

You have TWO fuel pumps on the 85. One in the tank and one closer to the engine.

Your timing can be off some too. Check your distributor and timing belt.

I found the problem with my '85 2.3 FI, the ignition switch was bad so it kept shutting off.
